Canadian EV Charging Incentives & Rebates 

Below is a summary of all current Canadian incentives for purchasing and installing EV chargers.

Natural Resources Canada

Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP)

Description:

Multi-phase RFP-based incentive program. 50% of total project costs up to $5,000 per Level 2 charger or $50,000 per DCFC. Current RFP is focused on third-party delivery of incentives. Future RFPs will focus on mass transit, multi-family, workplace, public, and fleets. NRCan contributions are repayable based on certain conditions.

Electric Vehicle and Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Deployment Initiative (EVAFIDI)

Description:

Multi-year initiative to establish a network of DCFCs along national highways:50% of total project costs up to $50,000 per DCFC. Maximum contribution of $5 million per project. NRCan contributions are repayable based on certain conditions.

Government of Québec: Transition énérgetique Québec rebates

Description: 50% of total install costs up to $5,000 per Level 2 charger. Programs for        both multi-family and workplace use cases. Max. rebate $25,000 per organization/year.

BC Hydro: CleanBC rebates for BC Hydro customers

Description: 50% of total install costs up to $2,000 per Level 2 charger. For multi-family buildings and workplaces. Includes 5 free hours of support from an EV charging advisor.

Available to: Multi-family, workplace (BC Hydro customers only)

FortisBC: CleanBC rebates for FortisBC customers

Description: 50% of total install costs up to $2,000 per Level 2 charger. For multi-family buildings and workplaces. Includes 5 free hours of support from an EV charging advisor.

Government of British Columbia:                                                  CleanBC Go Electric Public Charger Program

Description: 50% of project costs up to $80,000 per DCFC (>50 kW) and $130,000 per HPCS (>100 kW). Maximum funding can be increased up to 90% of project costs for Indigenous communities.

Government of British Columbia: CleanBC Communities Fund

Description: $47 million is available to help clean infrastructure projects in B.C., covering between 40% and 90% of eligible project costs. All projects must be proposed by or in collaboration with at least one local government or Indigenous government. Level 2 and DCFC installations are eligible.

Government of Alberta: Municipal Climate Change Action Centre

Electric Vehicles for Municipalities Program

Description: For municipalities in Alberta. 50% of total pre-GST install costs up to $2,000 per Level 2 charger or DCFC. Maximum rebate of $40,000 per municipality. Also includes additional rebates for the purchase of light, medium, and heavy-duty EVs.

City of Edmonton: EV Charger and E-Bike (ECEB) Rebate Program

Description: 50% of total install costs up to $2,000 per Level 2 charger. For businesses, workplaces, and large multi-family buildings (5 units or more). Maximum rebate of 5 chargers per organization per year. Pre-approval is recommended.

Government of Yukon: Yukon Level 2 charger rebate

Description: 50% of total install costs up to $4,000 per Level 2 charger. For multi-family, workplace, and public sites. Maximum of 10 chargers per location.
